      <p>An Act to amend <ref class="unresolved">the Public Accounts Committee Act 1951</ref>-1973.</p>
      <p>BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—</p>

        <b>Short title and citation.</b>

          <num>1</num>
          <content>
            <p><b>1.</b> (1) This Act may be cited as the Public Accounts Committee Amendment Act 1976.</p>
          </content>
        </subsection>
        <subsection eId="sec-1__subsec-2">
          <num>2</num>
          <content>
            <p>The Public Accounts Committee Act 1951-1973 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.</p>
          </content>
        </subsection>
        <subsection eId="sec-1__subsec-3">
          <num>3</num>
          <content>
            <p>The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as <ref class="unresolved">the Public Accounts Committee Act 1951</ref>-1976.</p>
          </content>
        </subsection>
      </section>
      <section eId="sec-2">
        <num>2</num>
        <heading>Commencement.</heading>
        <content>
          <p><b>2.</b><b>	</b>This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.</p>
        </content>
      </section>
      <section eId="sec-3">
        <num>3</num>
        <heading>Joint Committee of Public Accounts.</heading>
        <content>
          <p><b>3.</b><b>	</b>Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-section:–</p>
          <p>“(6) At any time at which–</p>
          <p>(a) there is constituted a Standing Committee of the House of Representatives known as the Expenditure Committee; and</p>
          <p>(b) the Chairman of that Committee is not a member of the Joint Committee of Public Accounts by virtue of an appointment under sub-section (2),</p>
          <p>that Chairman shall, by virtue of his office as Chairman of the Expenditure Committee, be a member of the Joint Committee of Public Accounts in addition to the members referred to in sub-section (1), but is not eligible to be elected as Chairman of the last-mentioned Committee.”.</p>

        <num>4</num>
        <heading>Formal amendments.</heading>
        <content>
          <p><b>4.</b><b>	</b>The Principal Act is amended as set out in the Schedule.</p>

          <p>SCHEDULE	Section 4</p>
          <p>FORMAL AMENDMENTS</p>
          <p>1.	The following provisions of the Principal Act are amended by omitting any number expressed in words that is used to identify a section of that Act or of another Act, and substituting that number expressed in figures:—</p>
          <p>Sections 8, 9(3), 11(6), 15, 16 and 21(1).</p>
          <p>2.<b>	</b>The following provisions of the Principal Act are amended by omitting the words “of this section” and “of this Act” (wherever occurring):—</p>
          <p>Sections 11(3)(b), 11(5), 15, 16 and 23(2).</p>
          <p>3.	The following provisions of the Principal Act are amended by omitting the words “to this Act”:—</p>
          <p>Sections 10(2), 13(2) and 14(2).</p>
