        <heading>Short title</heading>
        <content>
          <p>		This Act may be cited as the <i>Corporations (Compensation Arrangements Levies) Act 2001</i>.</p>
        </content>

        <heading>Commencement</heading>
        <content>
          <p>		This Act commences on the commencement of item 1 of Schedule 1 to the <i>Financial Services Reform Act 2001</i>.</p>

        <num>3</num>
        <heading>Definitions</heading>
        <content>
          <p>		Subject to this Act, <i>Corporations Act 2001</i> applies for the purposes of this Act as if the provisions of this Act were provisions of Division 3 of Part 7.5 of that Act.<ref href="#part-1">Part 1</ref>.2 (Interpretation) of the </p>

        <num>4</num>
        <heading>Imposition of levies in respect of compensation arrangements for financial services markets</heading>
        <content>
          <p>		Any levy that is payable under <i>Corporations Act 2001 </i>is imposed by this Act.<ref href="#sec-883D">section 883D</ref> of the </p>

      <section eId="sec-5">
        <num>5</num>
        <heading>Amount of levy</heading>
        <content>
          <p>		Compensation rules referred to in subsection 883D(1) of the <i>Corporations Act 2001 </i>must specify, or specify a method for determining, the amount of levy that is to be payable. The amount of levy imposed by section 4 of this Act in a particular situation is the amount specified in, or worked out in accordance with the method specified in, the compensation rules.</p>

        <num>6</num>
        <heading>Transitional matters—implementation of the Corporations Act 2001</heading>
        <content>
          <p>If, immediately before the commencement of this Act:</p>
        </content>
        <paragraph eId="sec-6__para-a">
          <num>a</num>
          <content>
            <p>	(a)	an amount of levy was payable to a securities exchange as agent for the Commonwealth under subsection 8(3) or (4) of the <i>Corporations (Securities Exchanges Levies) Act 2001</i>; or</p>
          </content>
        </paragraph>
        <paragraph eId="sec-6__para-b">
          <num>b</num>
          <content>
            <p>	(b)	an amount of levy was payable to a futures organisation as agent for the Commonwealth under subsection 6(1) or (2) of the <i>Corporations (Futures Organisations Levies) Act 2001</i>;</p>
          </content>
          <content>
            <p>then, on the commencement of this Act, that levy becomes payable, by force of this section, to the operator of the financial market that was that securities exchange or futures organisation (as the case may be), as agent for the Commonwealth.</p>

              <b>Editorial changes</b>
            </p>
            <p>The <i>Legislation Act 2003</i> authorises First Parliamentary Counsel to make editorial and presentational changes to a compiled law in preparing a compilation of the law for registration. The changes must not change the effect of the law. Editorial changes take effect from the compilation registration date.</p>
            <p>If the compilation includes editorial changes, the endnotes include a brief outline of the changes in general terms. Full details of any changes can be obtained from the Office of Parliamentary Counsel.</p>
            <p>
              <b>Misdescribed amendments</b>
            </p>
            <p>A misdescribed amendment is an amendment that does not accurately describe how an amendment is to be made. If, despite the misdescription, the amendment can be given effect as intended, then the misdescribed amendment can be incorporated through an editorial change made under <i>Legislation Act 2003</i>.<ref href="#sec-15V">section 15V</ref> of the </p>
            <p>If a misdescribed amendment cannot be given effect as intended, the amendment is not incorporated and “(md not incorp)” is added to the amendment history.</p>
