                <p>	(1)	A <b><i>vulnerable adult complainant</i></b>, in relation to a vulnerable adult proceeding, is an adult who is, or is alleged to be, a victim of an offence, of a kind referred to in subsection 15Y(2), to which the proceeding relates.</p>

              </content>
            </paragraph>

                <p>a lawyer who has appeared for the person in those proceedings;</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>
            <content>
              <p>has, at least 28 days before the certificate is sought to be so admitted, been given a copy of the certificate together with notice of the intention to produce the certificate as evidence in the proceedings.</p>
            </content>
            <hcontainer name="subclause" eId="schedule-3__clause-236F__subclause-2">
              <num>2</num>
              <content>
                <p>If, under <ref href="#sec-236E">section 236E</ref>, a certificate is admitted in evidence in proceedings for an offence, the person charged with the offence may require the person who signed the certificate to be:</p>

              <num>a</num>
              <content>
                <p>called as a witness for the prosecution; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>

                <p>cross-examined as if the person who signed the certificate had given evidence of the matters stated in the certificate.</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>

                <p>However, subsection (2) does not entitle the person charged to require the person who signed the certificate to be called as a witness for the prosecution unless:</p>
              </content>

              <num>a</num>
              <content>
                <p>the prosecutor has been given at least 21 days’ notice of the person’s intention to require the person who signed the certificate to be so called; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph eId="schedule-3__clause-236F__para-b">
              <num>b</num>
              <content>
                <p>the court, by order, allows the person charged to require the person who signed the certificate to be so called.</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>

                <p>Any evidence given in support, or in rebuttal, of a matter stated in a certificate issued under subsection 236E(1) must be considered on its merits, and the credibility and probative value of such evidence must be neither increased nor diminished by reason of this section.</p>

              <p>The amendment history in endnote 4 provides information about amendments at the provision (generally section or equivalent) level. It also includes information about any provision of the compiled law that has been repealed in accordance with a provision of the law.</p>

                <b>Editorial changes</b>
              </p>
              <p>The <i>Legislation Act 2003</i> authorises First Parliamentary Counsel to make editorial and presentational changes to a compiled law in preparing a compilation of the law for registration. The changes must not change the effect of the law. Editorial changes take effect from the compilation registration date.</p>
              <p>If the compilation includes editorial changes, the endnotes include a brief outline of the changes in general terms. Full details of any changes can be obtained from the Office of Parliamentary Counsel.</p>

                <b>Misdescribed amendments</b>
              </p>
              <p>A misdescribed amendment is an amendment that does not accurately describe the amendment to be made. If, despite the misdescription, the amendment can be given effect as intended, the amendment is incorporated into the compiled law and the abbreviation “(md)” added to the details of the amendment included in the amendment history.</p>
              <p>If a misdescribed amendment cannot be given effect as intended, the abbreviation “(md not incorp)” is added to the details of the amendment included in the amendment history.</p>
