          <p>		This Act is the <i>Corporations Amendment (Auditor Registration) Act 2016.</i></p>

        <heading>Commencement</heading>
        <subsection eId="sec-2__subsec-1">
          <num>1</num>
          <content>
            <p>Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.</p>

        <heading>Schedules</heading>

          <p>Legislation that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.</p>

            <heading>Validation of approval of auditing competency standard</heading>
            <hcontainer name="subclause" eId="schedule-1__clause-1298P__subclause-1">
              <num>1</num>
              <content>
                <p>This section applies, for the purposes of the laws of the Commonwealth (including this Act), in relation to the approval dated <date date="2004-11-24">24 November 2004</date> under section 1280A of an auditing competency standard (whether or not the approval is in force when this section commences).</p>
              </content>

              <num>2</num>
              <content>
                <p>	(2)	The <i>Legislation Act 2003</i> has effect, and is taken always to have had effect, as if:</p>
              </content>
            </hcontainer>
            <paragraph eId="schedule-1__clause-1298P__para-a">
              <num>a</num>
              <content>
                <p>the approval had been lodged for registration immediately after the approval was given; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph eId="schedule-1__clause-1298P__para-b">
              <num>b</num>
              <content>
                <p>the approval had been registered immediately after it was lodged for registration; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph eId="schedule-1__clause-1298P__para-c">
              <num>c</num>
              <content>
                <p>any other requirement imposed by that Act in relation to the approval had been met.</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>

              <num>3</num>
              <content>
                <p>However, this section does not affect rights or liabilities arising between parties to proceedings heard and finally determined by a court on or before the commencement of this section, to the extent that those rights or liabilities arose from, or were affected by, the approval.</p>

            <content>
              <p>Definitions</p>
              <p><b><i>lodge </i></b>has the same meaning as in the <i>Legislation Act 2003</i>.</p>
              <p><b><i>register</i></b> has the same meaning as in the <i>Legislation Act 2003</i>.</p>

            <heading>Compensation for acquisition of property</heading>
            <hcontainer name="subclause" eId="schedule-1__clause-1298Q__subclause-1">
              <num>1</num>
              <content>
                <p>If the operation of <ref href="#sec-1298P">section 1298P</ref> would result in an acquisition of property from a person otherwise than on just terms, the Commonwealth is liable to pay a reasonable amount of compensation to the person.</p>
              </content>
            </hcontainer>
            <hcontainer name="subclause" eId="schedule-1__clause-1298Q__subclause-2">
              <num>2</num>
              <content>
                <p>If the Commonwealth and the person do not agree on the amount of the compensation, the person may institute proceedings in the Federal Court for the recovery from the Commonwealth of such reasonable amount of compensation as the court determines.</p>

              <num>3</num>
              <content>
                <p>To avoid doubt, this section applies in relation to the operation of <ref href="#sec-1298P">section 1298P</ref> instead of <ref href="#sec-1350">section 1350</ref>.</p>

              <p><b><i>just terms</i></b> has the same meaning as in paragraph 51(xxxi) of the Constitution.</p>
