          <p>		This Act is the <i>National Cancer Screening Register (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Act 2016</i>.</p>

        <heading>Commencement</heading>
        <subsection eId="sec-2__subsec-1">
          <num>1</num>
          <content>
            <p>Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.</p>

          <p>Legislation that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.</p>

            <heading>Definitions</heading>
            <hcontainer name="subclause" eId="schedule-1__clause-4__subclause-1">
              <num>1</num>
              <content>
                <p>In this Part:</p>
              </content>
            </hcontainer>
            <content>
              <p><b><i>National Cancer Screening Register</i></b> means the register established under Part 2 of the <i>National Cancer Screening Register Act 2016</i>.</p>
              <p><b><i>prescribed cervical screening register </i></b>means a register or database prescribed by rules made under subitem 5(3).</p>

                <p>(2)	An expression used in this Part has the same meaning as in the <i>National Cancer Screening Register Act 2016</i>.</p>

            <num>5</num>
            <heading>Transfer of information from State and Territory databases</heading>
            <hcontainer name="subclause" eId="schedule-1__clause-5__subclause-1">
              <num>1</num>
              <content>
                <p>A State or Territory authority is authorised to use and disclose information in a prescribed cervical screening register for the purposes of the Commonwealth including information in the National Cancer Screening Register.</p>

              <num>2</num>
              <content>
                <p>(2)	For the purposes of the <i>National Cancer Screening Register Act 2016</i>, information disclosed to the Commonwealth under subitem (1) is taken to have been obtained under the <i>National Cancer Screening Register Act 2016</i>.</p>

            <hcontainer name="subclause" eId="schedule-1__clause-5__subclause-3">
              <num>3</num>
              <content>
                <p>(3)	The Minister administering the <i>National Cancer Screening Register Act 2016 </i>may, by legislative instrument, make rules prescribing registers or databases which exist under legislation of a State or Territory and contain information about individuals in connection with screening associated with cervical cancer.</p>
              </content>
            </hcontainer>

              <num>4</num>
              <content>
                <p>This item applies despite any law of the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory.</p>
              </content>

            <heading>Application of civil penalty for reporting requirement</heading>
            <content>
              <p>	Subsection 13(2) of the <i>National Cancer Screening Register Act 2016 </i>does not apply before 1 May 2018.</p>
