          <p>		This Act is the <i>Veterans’ Affairs Legislation Amendment (Omnibus) Act 2017</i>.</p>

            <p>Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.</p>

              <p>In carrying out its functions, the Board must pursue the objective of providing a mechanism of review that:</p>

                <p>is accessible; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph eId="schedule-1__clause-133A__para-b">
              <num>b</num>
              <content>
                <p>is fair, just, economical, informal and quick; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph eId="schedule-1__clause-133A__para-c">
              <num>c</num>
              <content>
                <p>is proportionate to the importance and complexity of the matter; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>

                <p>promotes public trust and confidence in the decision-making of the Board.</p>

            </paragraph>

            <heading>Ongoing requirement for lodging material documents with Board</heading>
            <content>
              <p>If:</p>
              <p>the party must, subject to any directions given under subsection 142(2), lodge a copy of the document with the Board as soon as practicable after obtaining possession.</p>
            </content>

                <p>an application for a review is made under <ref href="#sec-135">section 135</ref>; and</p>
              </content>
            </paragraph>

              </content>

                <p>in the case of a variation—the Board is satisfied that it would have been within the powers of the Board to have made the decision as varied.</p>
