          <p>		This Act is the <i>Official Development Assistance Multilateral Replenishment Obligations</i><i> (Special Appropriation) </i><i>Act </i><i>2020</i>.</p>

        <heading>Commencement</heading>
        <subsection eId="sec-2__subsec-1">

            <p>Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.</p>

        <num>3</num>
        <heading>Definitions</heading>
        <content>
          <p>In this Act:</p>
          <p><term refersTo="#term-debt-relief-trust-fund">Debt Relief Trust Fund</term> means <def>the Trust Fund established by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association on 7 November 1996.</def></p>
          <p><term refersTo="#term-global-environment-facility-trust-fund">Global Environment Facility Trust Fund</term> means <def>the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund established by the Instrument for the Establishment of the Restructured Global Environment Facility, done at Geneva on 7 July 1994, as in force from time to time.</def></p>
          <p><term refersTo="#term-international-development-association">International Development Association</term> means <def><ref class="unresolved">the Association referred to in the International Development Association Act 1960</ref>.</def></p>
          <p><term refersTo="#term-montreal-protocol">Montreal Protocol</term> means <def>the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, done at Montreal on 16 September 1987, as in force for Australia from time to time.</def></p>
          <p><term refersTo="#term-multilateral-fund-for-the-implementation-of-the-montreal-protocol">Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol</term> means <def>the Multilateral Fund established by the Amendment to the Montreal Protocol adopted by Decision II/2 of the Second Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol at London on 29 June 1990.</def></p>
          <p><term refersTo="#term-payment">payment</term> includes <def>payment in a foreign currency.</def></p>

        <num>4</num>
        <heading>Payments required to be made</heading>
        <content>
          <p>Australia may make any payment to an international body specified in column 1 of an item in the following table if Australia is required to make that payment in accordance with the agreement specified in column 2 of the item.</p>

        <num>5</num>
        <heading>Issue of promissory notes</heading>
        <subsection eId="sec-5__subsec-1">
          <num>1</num>
          <content>
            <p>The Treasurer may, on behalf of Australia, make promissory notes and issue them to an international body specified in column 1 of an item in the table in <ref href="#sec-4">section 4</ref>, for the purposes of making any payment required to be made by Australia in accordance with an agreement specified in column 2 of the item.</p>

        </subsection>

          <num>2</num>
          <content>
            <p>A promissory note made under subsection (1) is to be:</p>
          </content>
          <paragraph eId="sec-5__subsec-2__para-a">
            <num>a</num>
            <content>
              <p>non-negotiable; and</p>
            </content>
          </paragraph>
          <paragraph eId="sec-5__subsec-2__para-b">
            <num>b</num>
            <content>
              <p>non-interest-bearing; and</p>
            </content>
          </paragraph>
          <paragraph eId="sec-5__subsec-2__para-c">
            <num>c</num>
            <content>
              <p>payable at par value upon demand.</p>
            </content>
          </paragraph>

        <num>6</num>
        <heading>Appropriation</heading>
        <content>
          <p>The Consolidated Revenue Fund is appropriated for the purposes of making:</p>
        </content>

            <p>payments under <ref href="#sec-4">section 4</ref>; and</p>
          </content>
        </paragraph>
        <paragraph eId="sec-6__para-b">
          <num>b</num>

            <p>payments under promissory notes made under <ref href="#sec-5">section 5</ref>.</p>

              <b>Editorial changes</b>
            </p>
            <p>The <i>Legislation Act 2003</i> authorises First Parliamentary Counsel to make editorial and presentational changes to a compiled law in preparing a compilation of the law for registration. The changes must not change the effect of the law. Editorial changes take effect from the compilation registration date.</p>
            <p>If the compilation includes editorial changes, the endnotes include a brief outline of the changes in general terms. Full details of any changes can be obtained from the Office of Parliamentary Counsel.</p>

              <b>Misdescribed amendments</b>
            </p>
            <p>A misdescribed amendment is an amendment that does not accurately describe how an amendment is to be made. If, despite the misdescription, the amendment can be given effect as intended, then the misdescribed amendment can be incorporated through an editorial change made under <i>Legislation Act 2003</i>.<ref href="#sec-15V">section 15V</ref> of the </p>
            <p>If a misdescribed amendment cannot be given effect as intended, the amendment is not incorporated and “(md not incorp)” is added to the amendment history.</p>
